Mango Butter: the lighter, silkier butter
Share
Mango butter is my pick when I want the nourishment of a butter but a lighter, silkier feel — it's a little less rich than shea and it has a gorgeous, almost velvety finish.
Where it comes from
It's the fat from the kernel (stone) of the mango, Mangifera indica. It's soft, smooth and virtually odourless, which makes it a joy to work with and easy to scent however you like.
What it does for your skin
It softens and moisturises, supports skin's elasticity, and absorbs more readily than the heavier butters — so it's lovely for faces, for lighter body butters, and for anyone who finds shea a bit much.
How to use it
- In place of, or alongside, shea for a lighter feel
- In facial balms and creams
- Whipped for a fluffy, fast-absorbing body butter
- In lip balms for a smooth, non-waxy finish
Because it's odourless, it's the perfect blank canvas if you want the botanical you're adding to be the star.
