Rosemary Extract (ROE): the antioxidant that guards your oils
Share
Rosemary Antioxidant (ROE) is the professional's secret for keeping oil-based products fresh — a tiny amount does a big job.
What it is
It's a concentrated extract from rosemary leaves, valued not for its scent but for its antioxidant power. It's one of the most effective natural ways to slow the oxidation of oils and butters.
What it does
It protects the fats in your recipe from going off, which keeps colour, scent and skin-feel true for longer. Used alongside vitamin E, the two work beautifully together — a proper belt-and-braces approach to keeping your oils in good condition.
How to use it
- A very small amount goes a long way — typically 0.1% or less
- Add it to the oil phase
- Remember it's an antioxidant, not a preservative — anything with water still needs a proper preservative
Because it's so concentrated, measure carefully — more is not better here.
