Citric Acid

Citric Acid is a maker's multitasker — best known for the fizz in bath bombs, but handy for gently adjusting pH too.

INCI: Citric Acid

What it does: reacts with bicarbonate of soda to create that lovely bath-bomb fizz, and lowers the pH of a formulation when you need it to.

What to make with it: bath bombs and bath fizzers, and as a small-percentage pH adjuster in creams and lotions.

Good to know:

• Roughly 1 part citric acid to 2 parts bicarb for bath bombs
• A little goes a long way when adjusting pH
• Fine white granules — keep dry
