What it does: an emulsifier and co-emulsifier that stabilises lotions and creams, adds a smooth, soft feel and helps thicken.

What to make with it: creams, lotions and emulsified balms — often alongside a partner emulsifier for a robust, stable blend.

Good to know:

• Typical usage: around 3–5% as part of an emulsifier system
• White waxy beads — melt into the oil phase
• Gives a soft, elegant skin-feel
