Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

Tocopherol is natural Vitamin E — both a lovely skin-conditioning ingredient and a hard-working antioxidant that helps keep your oils fresh.

INCI: Tocopherol

What it does: protects oils and butters from turning rancid by slowing oxidation, while also nourishing and conditioning the skin.

What to make with it: facial oils, serums, balms, butters and any oil-rich formulation.

Good to know:

• Typical usage: around 0.2–1%
• An antioxidant to extend shelf life — not a broad-spectrum preservative
• Thick, slightly sticky oil, so a little goes a long way
