Nourishing Hand Balm

A rich little balm for hard-working hands — it sinks in without staying greasy, and it's gorgeous kept by the sink or the bedside.

You'll need (makes about 100g)

  • Beeswax — 20% (20g)
  • Shea Butter — 30% (30g)
  • Sweet Almond Oil — 24% (24g)
  • Jojoba Oil — 15% (15g)
  • Castor Oil — 10% (10g)
  • Vitamin E (Tocopherol) — 1% (1g)
  • Optional: essential oil — about 1% (20 drops); lavender or a soft citrus is lovely

Method

  1. Melt the beeswax and shea butter gently in a bain-marie.
  2. Add the sweet almond, jojoba and castor oils and stir until melted.
  3. Take off the heat, cool for a minute, then stir in the vitamin E (and essential oil, if using).
  4. Pour into tins or jars and leave to set.

A few tips

For a firmer balm add a little more beeswax; for a softer, more buttery one, a touch more shea. Anhydrous, so no preservative needed — just keep water out.

The butters and oils are all in my Butters and Carrier Oils. 🤍
