Warming Comfort Balm for Tired Joints & Muscles

A warming, comforting balm to massage into tired, achy joints and muscles at the end of a long day. It's a lovely one to make for anyone who's on their feet a lot.

You'll need (makes about 100g)

  • Beeswax — 18% (18g)
  • Shea Butter — 22% (22g)
  • Sweet Almond Oil — 30% (30g)
  • Castor Oil — 10% (10g)
  • Jojoba Oil — 17% (17g)
  • Vitamin E (Tocopherol) — 1% (1g)
  • Essential oils — up to 2% (about 40 drops for 100g): a warming blend of ginger, black pepper, rosemary, lavender and may chang is gorgeous

Method

  1. Melt the beeswax and shea butter gently in a bain-marie.
  2. Add the sweet almond, castor and jojoba oils and stir until melted.
  3. Take off the heat and let it cool for a minute or two, then stir in the vitamin E and your essential oils.
  4. Pour into tins and leave to set.

A gentle, important note

This is a comforting cosmetic balm to enjoy — it is not a medicine and won't treat or cure any condition. Keep essential oils within a safe dilution, always patch-test first, avoid during pregnancy unless you've had advice, and check with your GP if you have a health condition or are on medication.

You'll find the base ingredients in my Butters and Carrier Oils, and the essential oils over in my Steph Kilkenny range. 🤍
